Field Safety

For a number of our events, the King's Own camps with the army. Therefore, we need period accurate tents.

For our unit, we recommend Tentsmiths Authentic Period Tentage (www.tentsmiths.com). Phone (603) 447-2344. Company is in Conway, NH.
  • Link to recommended tent for $255: British Infantry Tent. 6' x 7' x 6' with a 1'3" Bell.
  • You may go with Sunforger finish on the fabric, but we recommend Sunforger-Flame for the additional safety of flame resistance.
  • We do not recommend the stakes, as they are metal. For the period, we would have had wooden stakes. One can make them or purchase from Avalon Forge ($9/dozen; Oak Tent Pegs).
  • Acquire the Pole Set without grommets in the peaks of your tent; or you can make your own poles with store-bought 2"x2"s.
  • Make your own canvas bag or acquire the Tent Bag from Tentsmiths.
  • Other specifications: no floor, no second door, no mudflaps.
At time of this posting, the total price when using these specifications was $345 (tent, poles, and canvas bag). This price does not include shipping.

Historically, three men (your "comrades") would sleep in the same tent. Feel free to co-purchase a tent to split the costs.
