Exciting Fort Ticonderoga

The King's Own will be travelling again this year to Fort Ticonderoga to re-enact the invasion out of Canada by General Burgoyne's forces in 1777. The national historic site is a beautiful location and we encourage the public to visit during the event. While the British Army will not be taking the Fort per se, there were numerous small engagements in the region, which we will be depicting. Battle reenactments will occur in the lower plain before Fort Ticonderoga.

The Fort Ticonderoga event occurs September 8 - 9, 2007 in Ticonderoga, NY.

Football
New to this year's event, there will be a re-enactment of a football pitch in the British Camp. That's soccer to most Americans. The 40th will be squaring of against the HMS Somersetters and the 4th. While such sports did not happen in the midst of a campaign, they did happen during down time when fighting was not imminent.

Swearing in Ceremony
The King's Own has had a number of "schilling takers" or men who have signed up for our glorious regiment. The will speak their oath to serve King George III and uphold the honour of the Regiment. Informally called the "swearing in" ceremony, it is a dignified event open to the public. Ceremony should happen around 5pm on Saturday but please check with the 4th on that day.
