2006 - A Brand New Season of Reenacting!
Winter snows are passing, which means colonial armies can go on the march. The King's Own is diligently training so we can make our mark when the time arrives.
Patriot's Day, April 17 this year, has the 4 th taking our place again on the field for the Battle of Lexington. Historically, we were there on that fateful day in 1775. Again, we will be on the left flank to drive the Lexington Training Band from the field, and set off a war.
Two days prior, on April 15th, the King's Own will be joining the Crown Forces for a reenactment at Hartwell Tavern as part of Battle Road. Fighting occurred near this tavern on April 19, 1775, in the late morning. At this point, the provincials were harrying the Regulars as we marched back to Boston.
For other major reenactments, the 4 th will be in Southbury Connecticut in June, Ward Pound Ridge New York in July, Fort Ticonderoga New York in September, and the 225th Siege of Yorktown Virginia in October. The latter will be the capstone of the season!
