The King's Own has a long and significant history that spans from 1680 to the present day, but this reenactment group focuses primarily on the American Revolution and the colonial period surrounding these years.

Within Massachusetts, the 4th is best known for its participation in Battle Road. These are the series of battles that occurred on April 19th, when British forces marched to Concord and were significantly harried by American Militia sparking the American Revolution.

In Battle Road, the King's Own fought on Lexington Green, witnessing the "Shot Heard Around The World," and Old North Bridge, taking casualties at the latter. During the retreat, the 4th, always light on their feet, was used to sweep areas to protect the main force. In fact, the militia and farmers never dared to close ranks, presumably out of fear of these sweeps.

Two months later, the King's Own was deployed again. This time, they were among the forces that charged Bunker Hill (Breed's Hill). Again, they took significant casualties before the field was won.
