The Fort at No. 4
The King's Own joined the 29th and the 64th for a weekend of Advanced Light Infantry drills. This weekend gave the Lights a chance to get together and practice difficult maneuvers.
The Fort at No. 4 (http://www.fortat4.com/) was the backdrop. This wooden frontier fort dates back to 1744. Just a short meadow
separates it from the mighty Connecticut River, which the fort protects. Mist shrouded the
mountains across the river in Vermont.
The men and women stayed at the fort, taking over the Great hall, which was very memorable for the ambience. New recruits were trained on building a cooking fire, preparing food, packing for events. Additionally, there was a swearing in ceremony for these new recruits, where they are read the articles of war and to asked to sign official papers of allegiance to the Crown.
